Most boost I can get out of a PS1C? -
11-12-03, 11:05 PM
Hey Guys, Im looking at forging this 2v I may be getting. It has a P1SC on it, pulley'd for 12 lbs. Right now he has it running very rich, as to save the engine.
I plan on forging it with this kit I found thats relatively inexpensive, and then after I forge it, I have the fuel system to support almost 500 rwhp.. so I figure, I may as well crank up the boost and dyno tune!
Whats the maximum boost I can see through this thing? I may get a Fox Lake or Bullitt Intake as well..
Im hoping I can pulley it for 16 or so PSI.

I pushed 15 out of mine when i had it.. it will support upwards of 800 hp so you have a ways to go.

15? What size pulley did you run?
Sweetttt
Right now, with a rich ( 10.2:1 the entire way ) tune etc etc...
it is running 380 rwhp 390 rwtq.
Car has a ton in it.. my plan is to forge it, bullitt intake, shove 3 more PSI into it ( power pipe + next pulley down ) and see how my fuel system holds up from there... with a steady 11.0:1 a/f ratio...

oh man i want to say it was a 3.35 pulley. what ever one ATI sent me when i told them I wanted 14lbs. 10.2:1.. wow that is crazy rich.. you can do some leaning out and probably gain a ton.. Although I wouldn't go much higher on a stock 2v either

What about just going with the D-1? You will have all the boost you could ever need. Just a thought. The D-1SC is in my future.

I think he's asking because it already has a P1SC on it.

( power pipe + next pulley down )
Is there a power pipe that is currently being made for this blower that will fit a 2000 GT or do have to custom fabricate one. Also, If I am running 12.5 lb of boost how much more can I get out of a power pipe. Will I need to retune my computer?

Yes, there is a powerpipe that will fit a 2000 GT and a P1SC...
It will apparently give 2-3 lbs of boost...
the car is pullied for 12 psi... so I was hoping i could pulley down, and throw the power pipe on there.. I know when I get the bullitt or fox lake intake, I'll lose 2 psi or so...
Im getting the internals forged.
As for the upgrade.. Im working on a budget... I plan on getting the modular depot chip burning software, selling the autologic chip currently in the car, buying a forged kit from a buddy for cheap, and getting the work done. Im hoping to get all this done for $3000 or so out of my pocket.

have you called ATI and ask them what size you need? I don't see any reason to upgrade the P1 unless your pushing in the 700 hp range then i may for ease on the blower and lower intake temps but the P1 per ATI has a max boost level of 30psi, 1200 cfms or 825 hp not to mention a max impeller speed of 62,000 rpms. You have some room to go here. 16-18 lbs shoudn't be an issue, that is if you can keep the belt from slipping. You are not maxed out and if you can't get more boost out of smaller pulleys then my guess is your slipping and need to upgrade to an 8 rib set up. I'd call ATI they will tell you exactly what pulley you need for what boost/hp level on your car.. plus they will tell you how many rpms you are spinning the blower. Also what intercooler are you running.. if you only have a 2 core then that may be a restriction as well if your measuring manifold pressure since it's only good for around 500 hp . 913-338-2886

I didnt think about upgrading to the 8 rib pulley.
Thanks!

Careful...you're already at 12psi, and you're going to do a power pipe AND pulley down?!? That's going to put you near 15psi. I think your stock block is gonna go bye-bye.
But good luck, I hope it works for you!

He's just dreaming about the future after the rebuild and forging, man.
I would say that 10:1 is way too rich even for a stock motor. You should be safe at 11.5-12:1. If possible have the timing curve altered to reduce the top end charge and thus keep the peak power at around 400rwhp. As long as you stay 12:1 or so and not too aggressive on timing you will be fine.
