Angry just upgraded to 150 shot... car falls on it's face - 11-13-03, 07:57 AM

hey guys... i just added the .67 jet the other day... but when i spray, the car absolutely falls on it's face... i mean... it's faster, but not as fast as when i ran the 100 shot...

the fuel pressure safety switch was bypassed to see if it was a fuel issue... but it's not... theres enuff fuel..

what else could it be?

PS... it's a dry kit NOW jetted for 150, and im stil using the same fuel regualtor jet as i was on the 100 shot

the fuel regulator jet is different with the 150 shot and you are supposed to put a shim under the nos regulator spring to help increase the fuel pressure

Thank you! someone who actually knows about the shim... where do i get this shim? and whats it made out of ? or can i just go get a .40" shim from anywhere and place it under the spring?

Oh, i almost forgot... where is the spring?? is it in the blue thing? or in the vacuum tee w/ the fuel regulator jet?

all i did was go to lowe's hardware, got a micrometer out of "tool world" and went and mic'd a bunch of washers till i got what i needed. Screw the nos regulator apart and you will see the spring.

Ok, thanks a lot.. I'll do that...

but, any idea why it's falling on its face??

sounds like it is not getting enough fuel. Could be alot of other things, but that would be my first guess. My car would do that before i put a whole separate fuel system (fuel cell, pump etc.) for the nitrous solenoid.

Just guessing... but maybe with out the proper stuff that you need to run the 150 shot, perhaps even though you have adequate fuel pressure the car is still leaning out... similar to having just too small an injector but lots of fuel pump and adj regulator.. on a really built N/A motor.

First off, it sounds as though you're running rich. But it sounds like already you knew that. Rich=no power. If you are sure it's not your fuel pressure, then it's probably your N20 pressure. When you increase to the 150 jet(.67), you're bottle pressure is key since the orifice of that jet is WAY bigger than the 100 shot. It's like trying to blow through a garden hose instead of a straw. Are you using a bottle heater? If not, get one. You definitely need one for higher jet settings. I would reccommend NX. You need at least 900-950 psi to get performance out of that jet. Anything less than that and you're gonna run rich. At 600 psi you're gonna sputter down the road with .67 jets. NX will give you more like 1050 psi. Remember, also, with that 150 jet, you're gonna fo through N2O like crazy, bottle pressure will drop quickly after only a few sprays. I feel your pain because when I went to my 150 jets, I had the same problem. Got a bottle heater and the kit realized its full potential and it made the N20 that you pay for last longer. I hope that this helps you and your problem is a simple fix....oh, and get dyno-tuned if you haven't already. MAKE SURE that you're A/F ratio is where it needs to be. Sorry, so long winded
