What size injectors - 11-19-03, 07:22 PM

i added a vortech t trim kit to my other wise stock lx 5.0 AOD(flow masters). What size injectors and MAF would be good. I put too big injectors on my G.T & it caused a lope @ idle.My tech guy says 24#, i think it should be more like 36#. Please help quick so i can by them . I also am getting a throttle body. the kit came with a inline fuel pump.

Personally, I would go with 42 #ers and a 75mm, 77mm or 80mm MAF with a supercharged calibration. You run anything less than 36 #ers and you will most likely need an FMU. But before we go any further, hopefully you have upgraded your exhaust system? If not, I would highly recommend doing so before you go romping on it with any serious amounts of boost.

42s minimum. You cant change injectors without changing the calibration in your MAF - so dont even try to. If your car ran bad with 36's you probably didnt touch your MAF correct? When Injectors and MAF's are calibrated correctly - car will run pretty awesome without even a chip

Just repeating what's been said, 42#ers and 80mm MAF.

I would say 42's are too big for a stock 5.0 with a vortech on it. They might cause you more problems than needed, and I would probably go with some 36's and a 75-80mm MAF (depending on if you plan to run more boost and bigger injectors down the road).

Put it this way, I was planning on running 42lbers on a twin turbo H/C/I 302 with around 8 psi of boost.

I don't think the stock 5.0 will flow enough to need em...but thats just my .02

This could be true. 36's would probably be perfect, but if you're going to spend the money for new 36's you might as well get the 42's and make them work. He is already spending the money on a big MAF and has purchased a nice blower. There isn't a single person I know who stops modding after a supercharger & injector investment. Matter of fact, he can't stop modding after these few additions because if he hasn't upgraded is fuel system he most likely will lean it. Or he will blow a gasket due to the minimal exhaust upgrade. I guess the bottom line is if he has the money, he can afford to custom-tailor as he upgrades, but if he is like me he should probably plan for the next improvement.

All depends on how far he is wanting to go. If more mods are planned down the road (as in heads, higher flowing intake manifold, etc) then you might want to get the 42's and deal with the problems till you get your next upgrade.

Otherwise, I would say get the 36's, set the fuel pressure, and be done with it. The 36's would still leave you room to grow for some small mods (exhaust, power pipe, etc) but would probably run out of juice if you put on some heads and a bigger cam.

Figure out where you want to go with it, and decide from that. I think you have plenty of input to make your decision.

I think 36 and 42# injectors are left to H/C/I/power adder cars. Unless you are running crazy boost, that T-trim/stock motor combo won't be making enough power to warrant anything more than 30# injectors. You don't want to overinject because you'll have to turn fuel pressure too far down to get the tune right, and injectors have greatly reduced capacity to atomize fuel when the pressure drops too low.
