Angry Powerdyne SC went bad again - 11-26-03, 01:02 PM

Anyone out ther know of a company that fixes powerdynes except powerdyne, they want $500 to fix it, and only give a 6 month warranty. I am looking for someone that realy knows what they are doing and arent going to screw this up. Any ideas? id like to throw it away but dont have the $1500 needed to upgrade to the new unit.

Rebuild it yourself. Nothing to it. That is one of the few bonuses to owning a Powerdyne.

...dang what a POS....

Is it the bearings that keep dying, or the belt, or both?

Just bad engineering ya think?

The Kevlar belt broke. This has got to be the 7th belt and second set of quality bearing I've put into it. Eatin' belts and spitting out bearings. Time to shop for something better.

PS- The new gear drive XB-1a has now been updated to better bearings also. Too bad for the first XB-1 owners.

Check out www.928motorsports.com

Awesome guy to deal with, turnaround time was great.
Wasnt too expensive..

My powerdyne was rebuilt from them, and its been kickin hard since then.
I love the blower, and wont get rid of it..
Anyone that keeps breaking them is doing something wrong..
My 89 dyno's 460 rwhp, yes with a powerdyne..

Very low maintenance, low noise, no oil lines, low discharge temp..
Easy install, Great for lower boost applications (up to 10-11lbs)
Anything more, they arent good for..

I agree Mike.
I have had to rebuild mine one time. actually I couldn't R&R the one back bearing so I had it done by the Superchargersrebuild.com guy. but that was because I spun the heck out of the thing. I have never broken an internal belt.
I have mine pullied now with a 7" crank and 2.90" blower pulley. since it is a daily driver I don't rev to 6K but I see 7-8psi at like 4500rpm and 10 by 5500.
That's on a HCI motor.
I think that's pretty good.
And, it's quiet so nobody hears me coming.

I just wonder what happened to the original poster?

Ha, yea right??
Im lookin to get the AFM power pipe, and aluminum discharge pipe..

I have the same setup as you, for the most part, but im not gettin full boost.. Probably due to the crappy intake and discharge tubes i have... I dunno...
Otherwise though, i love that blower...

fix the head unit by yourself. Attention! Use only ceramic bearings, they are ok for the impeller speed!
Good small bearings you con not get from Powerdyne!! Powerdyne has a very poor Quality! (only for 20000rpm max speed)
Use SKF ceramic Bearings.
The Part Number is SKF 6202-2RSLTN9 / HC5C3WT. This bearings are listed for 60000rpm max spped and 40000 limited speed!
I have the bearings 12000 mls in the supercharger (9psi) whitout wear or noise. But, you should to modify the small gearwheel with the shims!!

But, i will change to a Procharger - thts the best and powerdyne sucks!!

Hope, this help!
