Need opinions on Nitrous combo - 12-02-03, 07:28 PM

Ok. The Stang goes in the shop next month (giving myself a Xmas present). The car will be mostly a weekend cruiser & will hit the 1/4 mile a few times during the year. I need some opinions on a good nitrous set up for weekend racing. The motor is being rebuilt to a 306 & I still want to run on pump gas when not racing. I want to run a 125 to 150 shot.

1. What's the highest compression I can go & still run on 92 octane when not racing? Is 11:1 Ok?

2. What is a better intake for nitrous; Trick Flow Street heat or Edelbrock Performer?

3. I thinking about a Zex dry kit. Do I need a window switch for the Zex kit?

I'm far from being and expert and i could be wrong, but i think 11:1 compression is a bit high for running nitrous ontop of. From what i know, i could see something breaking. If it were me, i'd go with like 9.5:1 or so compresson with a NX wet 100-150 shot and all the safety goodies. I don't know much about those heads, but i do know someone running trick flow heads with nitrous and they haven't had any problems at all. Good luck to ya

Now I always heard that Nitrous likes compression & 9.5:1 isn't all that much differnt from stock compression. Also I'm looking at the trickflow intakes, not heads (don't have the money for new heads right now). I just want to make sure which intake would be better to run with nitrous or if there is any difference. Also, I know the ZEX kit comes with some kind of "nitrous managment system", I just want to know if that will replace the need for a window switch. This will be my first attempt at nitous & I don't want to blow the damn motor apart. I appreciate anyt advise I can get.
