Question Whos done their own junkyard turbo setup? - 12-03-03, 05:46 PM

check out my sig.....with a turbo i would only want around 550-600 FWHP. what size turbo would i need to complete that HP need. the motor should put out 450 FWHP as it is now. I want this to be as cheap as possible. Can somebody help me with turbo sizes and how much it should cost if i do it myself? Thanks.

friend did one on an integra. some good numbers but could have been better and more reliable imo if he went with a kit from a company or something like that.

Uhm, you didn't show your sig. so I can't tell you for sure. But if your putting down 450hp as it is...best bet would probably be a pair of GN turbo's, as they should be a pretty good fit for your power level, and have a pretty large aftermarket as far as upgrades for the turbo's if needed.

You could also use a pair of smallish T4's if you can find em. I would look for something around .8x a/r exhaust housings (maybe larger, I don't know what all you have done)...and if your just looking for around another 100 horsepower, .60 a/r compressor housings should be fine.

I wouldn't do a single unless your wanting to make more power than that. It would be pretty pointless to pay more money for a large frame turbo if your only looking for another 100/150 hp. But the 60-1 hifi would probably be a good fit if your definately wanting to go single, but your not going to find one of those in the junkyard.

I'm looking to get 550rwhp with a pair of Buick .60 / .82 T3's (from the early drawthrough 231's), around 12psi, and a large intercooler. This is going to be on a stock block 351 with forged internals, afr 205's, tfs-r upper and lower, and a custom cam. Should be optainable with alittle help from a tweecer.
