96-98 gt running 13's NA? - 12-03-03, 08:34 PM

Anyone running 13 second timeslips with a 96-98 gt without headswap or any kind of power adder? Just wondering what kind of mods and combinations(suspension, gears, DR's, ect.) would help me get there if possible. I just ordered 3.73's(and speedcal) and plan on getting a UPR timing adjuster because it will work with my piggy pack pullies and Nitto DR's should be on the way soon. Please include everything including weight reductions. Mods in sig. Thanks-Brian.

Back a year ago there was a kid that raced with us. He had a 1996 or 1997 GT without the headswap, stock headers, 4.10s, X-pipe, catback, TB, Mass Air, CAI, and ET Streets. he ran with the 16" rims up front, and had the car pretty light. He went a 13.6 or so at 99. I didnt realize at the time just how fast that was. I might be able to get some pictures of the car, and see if he is out there somewhere...

Graham, who ran with the MHRA??? Anyone know him, he is from CT!

I just found out the car had stock heads, stock cams, stock headers, stock intake, Throttle Body, Mass Air Meter, Off Road X-pipe, Catback, 4.10s, ET Streets, and a stock suspension...

It also went

13.3

I asked how he did that, and he had to drive the s**t out of it was what I was told!

Yes a 1999+ will do it easily, I know two guys running 12.2-12.3, and a bunch running 13.0s and up! He wants to know with the older cars, which is much more difficult.

25thmustang: Thanks for the replies. Damn a 13.3 is crazy for non pi 96-98 without a power adder. This sucks, I may have to put some juice on the 80,000 mile stang to get it into the 13's. Do you know how much his car weighed and the weight reductions he did? I took out my rear seat today and will remove the front swaybar when the track opens back up where I live. I'd also be interested to see pics of his car if you have them.

I dont know about the newer cars but what about some drag shocks or a drag racing based suspension? I have learned that suspension is critical in going fast. I hope this helps.

I am damn close. The run in my sig was full weight (inl. spare), BBK o/r x-pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder catback, K&N drop-in filter, removed silencer, 3.73's and Eibach drag launch springs. It was made on street tires, no P.I. heads or power adder. Bolting on slicks will put me there. You gotta get tons of practice and get the belts to squeek on every shift

I was amazed when I heard the times. The best time we have record of for him is a 13.58 @ 98, but I was told he went 13.3. I also found out he blew the plastic intake off again, and thats why we havent seen him or heard from him in over a year!
