Water cooler - 12-06-03, 06:48 PM

I have a stroked 5.0 (now 347). It has a Vortec S-Trim running at about 12psi.

I'm going the water cooling option.

The 'aftercooler' (the one that cools the air), does it have to be big? I have got one out of a WRX and it fit's perfectly, both water and air pipes (well one air pipe).

Will this help my car or not? It is not a high revving engine. I'd like to make 350 to 400HP at the wheels.

thanks,

Wayne

A 347 with 12psi....What size injectors do u have, cuz ull be making a HELL OF ALOT more then 400hp at the wheels.....probably more like 475-500.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using 30PSI injectors with a line pressure of 75-80 PSI.
The 12PSI of boost was on the old motor which was a 302 so I may not get the same figures.

The car is heavy and will be for cruising. It will go down the 1/4 on one meet just to see what it does.

I'm hoping the Subaru cooler will help more than not. A little loss boost doesn't bother me as long as I don't get lag or a drop on power.

why even bother with the cooler, its not needed. I have no problem running my s-trim on the 331. Its just more stuff to worry about. And u may want to move up to 36lb injectors, maybe even 42s and tune it down some.

Melbourne, born and raised...

I ran the 30# when is was a 302 at 12psi.

I don't want to build a race car, just want more excelleration.

I was hope to loose a little boost and gain power from the cooler air. If the boost lowers that's fine because I have the 30# injectors. I'm hoping the air being cool will compensate any power loss.

BTW, I'm no long using the EEC-IV. I've changed engine management.
