gas pedal loose - 12-08-03, 07:11 PM

Any cobra owners experience a loose gas pedal? My 99's pedal feels like it's hanging. Anyone know the fix? Could it be the cable or just a clip that fell off?

That's normal....lots of play. Some people have shortened the throttle cable....but I wouldn't bother.

I don't know. It just doesn't feel right. I've been in other mustangs and can feel the difference.

Here is a link to one of Shane's great tech pages- It takes about 3 minutes, several zip-ties and takes the slack out of the cable, bringing the gas pedal up even with the brake. It also makes sure that your car is actually Wide Open Throttle when the pedal is all the way down. On my 95 GT the pedal would actually hit the carpet before opening all the way up. Helped a lot on my cobra as well-

That's a good link. Thanks. Hey, my Cobra rpm gets stuck at 3000. It only happens when I punch it. I thought it was the accelerator cable at first but I think it's something else. Do you have any clues? (Maybe stuck throttle body)
