Question X-Pipe/Check Engine Light ? - 12-09-03, 02:35 PM

Hello to all,

I was thinking about replacing my '98 Cobra's stock H-pipe with a Catted X-pipe. My question is am I going to have problems with the O2 sensors triggering a check engine light? And if so what should I do about it? I do not want to have the light on all the time. Thanks in advance.

If you are getting a catted mid-pipe you shouldn't set off a MIL(malfunction indicator light). If you get off road pipe then it would set off the mil and you would need mil elimnators or turn it off with a chip. Hope this helps. Happy modding!

Hey 20Cobra01,

Thanks for the info. I was going with a catted x-pipe so I am glad to hear that I won't have to worry about the check engine light.

Sometimes I just lay on my garage floor and look up at it.

Had a Bassani X w/ cats on my '98 GT - no light (same emissions as Cobra).

Put an offroad X (BBK) on, had nothing but problems with the Casper MIL eliminators, got chip reflashed w/ O2 monitors turned off - no problems.

Casper says it's the 1998 'puter.
