Exclamation Torque Converter Help - 12-15-03, 11:49 PM

I installed a TCI Streetfighter converter in my C4. The company told me with my application it should stall out at about 2700RPM.
So I go to make a test run, and the car doesn't move until the converter hits the around 2700RPM. I mean it doesn't budge at all, the RPMs just climb until the converter suddenly kicks in and the car spins the tires hard.
Everything I've read about aftermarket converters says that the car still has the tendancy to creep forward even if you were not at the flash point. So am I being an idiot or is my converter not acting right?

On another note, I can make the converter stall out at 1700 or so, if I slowly raise the RPMs. Then if I keep climbing slowly, I can make it stall again at 2700. But if I just go pretty hard on the gas, it will only stall at 2700. Does this sound right?

Hello,

Maybe it's something simple double check your shifter cable adjustments, and fluid levels.

My 3600 stall (stallion) moves the car out right off idle (1100rpm). My old converter 3000 stall (B&M holeshot) was similar.

Good luck, Jason

I should add that the above is for normal street driving. If I punch it off idle the converter will stall up and blow the tires away.

Jason

When you talk about stalling the converter twice do you mean that the car torques twice? If so that is normal. Almost all stock vehicles will do that. So for your question does that sound right. Yes yes it does.
enjoy

I don't know what he could have done to install it wrong. The only thing I can think of is if he didn't get the convertor all the way into the pump. in that case it should make lots of noise. bend the flexplate. and destroy the trans oil pump. Trust me I know.
