Question failed smog- question? NO (PPM)? - 12-17-03, 03:30 PM

what the heck cause this fail reading?
MY
MAX - AVE - MEASURE

999 - 260 - 1300!

859 - 217 - 1252!

what is NO (PPM)? it wasn't my mustang it was my ford explorer(exploder)!

NO = noxious gasses (particles per million)

I'm guessing that "NO" on your report is NOx.

NOx is caused by high combustion chamber temps.

The most probable cause is that the EGR system is not working, or the ignition timing is way off.

Check for codes in the computer. Check the timing. You can also try running the gas tank down and throwing in a couple of bottles of heet before the next test.

its not showing a code or check engine light, where can i get them checked, or do i need to just get a new one.
