Okay, I wrestled with this for quite some time, here are the basics for those, like myself, who didn't know and want to autocross competetively. This is a quick snapshot of the rules, verify to be certain...
SCCA ALLOWED MODIFICATIONS
Stock-F-stock for stangs
Any front swaybar (not rear)
Any front swaybar mounts (urethane, solid, etc..)
Any Shocks (double adjustable max, not height adjustable) (up to $4000!)
Any cat back exhaust
Any D.O.T. Legal race tire (Kumho, Hoosier)
Any wheel (stock diameter that came on car. Offset can vary only .25 inch)
Any air filter (inside stock box)
Any spark plugs
Any spark plug wires
Any brake pads (no slotted rotors)
Any alignment
All other changes NOT allowed
Street Prepared (ESP for stangs)
All stock modifications plus:
Can update/backdate anything from any other model (this is the big one!)
· Start with lightest car (no AC, sunroof, power windows, seats, etc…)
· Add most powerful drivetrain
. For '87-93, No gears lower than 3.23, no subframe connectors
Any rear sway bar
Any springs/shocks (must use stock mounting location)
Adjustable Camber/Caster plates (can’t slot chassis for more adjustment)
Any bolt on engine mods (programmable fuel injection, intake, exhaust)
Exhaust (free-don’t need to retain cat(s))
NO internal engine modifications (only bolt on external mods)
Any size wheel (wide tires, lightweight $$$$ wheels)
Same D.O.T. Legal race tires as Stock Class
Prepared
All street prepared modifications plus:
Can lighten car (remove interior, etc…)
Must retain motor that was available in that model car
Any internal motor combinations
Racing Slick tires ($$$$)
Minimum weight limits in some classes
Modified
All Prepared modifications
Any motor
AM,BM,CM,FM = Open wheel cars
DM, EM = Production based cars
