Which shocks for best ride quality with Coilover's -
01-05-04, 06:42 AM
I am converting to coilover shocks on my 02 Gt Vert and want to know out of these 3 Bilstein, Koni, or Tokico's, which would give the best ride quality?

I'm no expert but here's my .02 By ride quality...I assume you mean smoothness on the street, not performance at the track.
1. If money ($1000) is no object I'd get the Koni D/As. You can tweak the compression and rebound individually for a smooth ride. You can dial 'em up if you want to do some autox. Lifetime warranty.
2nd choice. Regular-valved Bilsteins. Non-adjustable but I hear the make for a great ride. $650
3rd choice. Koni Sports. Can't adjust compression, but rebound is adjustable, so you have some ability to dial in the ride.
4th choice. Tokico Illuminas and KYB AGX. Adjusts both compression and rebound with the same control. Not the best for adjustability, no lifetime warranty.
If you get new struts, let us know how you like 'em.

koni da's are the way to go.. i run them on the notch with griggs coilovers.. the ride handling is great and the ride is stiff .. but can be adjusted softer..
not to burst your bubble on your coilover conversion.. but personally if you still want a decent ride i would go.. with a progressive rate conventional spring, eibach pro kit, mac, etc..

I went with the Maximum Motor sports kit for Bilsteins front and rear. I have a 2002 Mustang Gt Conv. What spring rates am i looking at for a good ride don't want to stiff or to soft. plus i am carrying about 100lbs in audio equipment in the trunk.

Get the bilsteins found on '03 cobra coupes. Best bang for the buck and already valved for our realitive body weight.
