Lentz is a top quality rod. Nascar does use them. They run 9000rpm with near 800HP all day long. A 408 has a longer stroke than a Nascar engine, so that might put a bit more stress on them. Still, I doubt that you will have any trouble with them.

Johnny Lentz's (lentz rod) machine shop is about 5 miles away from where i live. him and carillo are pretty much the only people the nascar teams buy rods from. he has done some machine work for us before. All he does is rods now. I have been at his shop a few times and seen all the rods joe gibbs orders from him (boxes of them) if that means anything to you.

i just don't know about the 500 miles on them part. that is 500 high stress miles! I would get them checked out real good. I remember him saying just the rod bolts alone were about $400.00. the rods are fairly long also (around 6.125 is what i am thinking). Do they have the wrist pin oiling hole going up through them?

If anything just give him a call and tell him what u got.

I just hope they can live a long time in a 750hp 408

the oiling hole goes from the rod journal up the beam of the rod to the wrist pin. Sounds like they don't have them. I will try to remember to get the number for you tonight.
