Blown power vavle? - 01-10-04, 12:27 PM

How do you know when you've blown the power valve in your carb? I just got my motor back together and put into the car. When I was trying to fire it , it back fired through the carb a few times. Now I'm haveing trouble trying to keep it idleing!

Sounds like a blown power valve. If you check you plugs, I'll bet they are coal black.

get the power valve wet then push the back foward and put your thumb over the front and see if it has any suction. no suction on the thumb=blown

its either that or the distrib is put in on the wrong stroke, 180 degrees out.

Thanks for the compliment on the motor No, I don't have a return,Yet. I've got a 12 gallon fuel cell w/ 2 elec fuel pumps. Holley Black feeding the carb, and a Holley Blue feedind fuel solinoid on nitrous. Ran 1/2" aluminum line(carb side)and 3/8" line(nitrous side). I'm planning on spliceing into the lines near the rear and running it back to the fuel cell. Should have the same effect. Check out my cardomain page
