Mounting Of Front Plate - 01-19-04, 06:19 AM

I am required in Illinois to have a front plate but I believe the Saleen I am buying doesn't have a bracket. What should I do?

What year? If it's a 99+ model, is it supercharged?

It hasn't been a problem yet for me, I've only been pulled over once and got
a warning. If it becomes a problem, I'm going to add a pair of L brackets
between the intercooler and the frame to temporarily mount a plate.
There's room to do it, but not a lot...

03 S281 supercharged. I also want to do a temporary thing so when/if I show it I can remove it easily.

I know someone who has fabricated a Saleen-specific bracket that allows mounting the license plate without drilling holes into the front of the bumper cover. He is not in the parts business but I believe he made a small batch of the brackets. I have one just in case I need it someday. PM me if you want more details.

Here's how I mounted the front plate on my car, using the back side of the front valance. It sits about an inch in front of the I/C radiator. So far, I/C temps have not gone above 160.

The local police like to do vehicle registration checks, so I need the front plate .

That’s inventive, Blip.

‘Round here, the cops would still pull you over for having the license plate “obstructed”.
