Shop for Mods in Phoenix, AZ area? -
04-22-04, 03:02 PM
I plan on installing 4.10 gears, Trans Go shift kit, and a tranny cooler. Does anyone know of a shop in the Phoenix, AZ area with reliable service?

Just don't use Loper's Performance Shop located somewhere around Indian School and like 14th St...you can buy parts from Lopers...just don't have their shop do any work. After I dealt with them I began to do all the work myself so I don't know of any reliable shops. Goodluck

AMP on University and 40th street is pretty reliable. They installed gears in my friend's 94 GT with no problems.

I've never dealt with AMP myself, but the local guys don't seem to have a real high opinion of them.

Depends on what kind of work your looking to get done. I've had some minor things done there with no problems. Levy Racing in Tempe also specializes in mustangs, never had work done there but heard good things. Turbo RX was a local chandler shop that recently went under. I thought there work was crap at best. They ended up sending me to brake masters to fix the alignment they screwed up. Thank God there no longer in business! I would like to hear other opinions towards local shops and previous experiences, whether good or bad.

I have lived in phoenix for a while but am kind of new to the mustang community. TurboRX going under is correct but I heard their good techs went to work at ADS up the street from where turbo used to be. AMP I only hear bad about them. Levy heard some bad and good

91CobraR: I have heard of a few people on this sight who got screwed over on installation or they (AMP) did not install it correctly.
Torque187: How does that art carr shift kit compare to Trans Go? I have not heard much about theirs, although I believe art carr has quality parts.

Art Carr is right up there with transgo if not better. I know for a fact art carr has come out with some quality products so im assuming this shift kit follows there line of product. Email me if your interested in it.

I have have been having work done by a couple of the mechanics there for years. They are all very good at what they do and all have impressive cars of their own. This place also has a mustang dyno, so they are very good at tuning cars. The guys I have had work on cars there are Chris H and John T. I have met the owner and he seems like a really nice guy. This place seems to keep the same people working there for a long time.

I appreciate the recommendation, I will definitely give them a try when I get my parts altogether.
