wfc hotel boycott - 05-18-04, 01:33 PM

So, anyone who attended WFC7 and stayed in corrallville had to have noticed the insane number of police officers that were not letting ANYONE have any fun. In the past they had allowed burnouts and whatnot as long as people didn't get out of hand.

Well, I guess the hotel owners got together and decided they didn't want people burning out around there so they got the city to hire all the extra police for the weekend.

I'm thinking we should find a different place to stay next year! We stayed at the comfort inn in corallville and the surrounding hotels were all involved in the decision.

I agree. We stayed in collinsville every year since 2000 and I have never seen it that bad.We are going to try and change to fairview heights next year. With as many hotels and suburbs that there is in that area people should definately boycott that area and they will get the hint.It happens at alot of races across the united states and it seems when they realize they loose all the business on those weekends they are begging for people to come back.We hadsomeone follow us back to our hotel which was way up on the hill and not well lit or populated and I think they were lookin to steal my car or parts from it and when I went to the police down near the main hotel area I got some female cop and she was a total bitch about me even trying to report it to her.

Angry Collinsville Sucks!! - 05-19-04, 05:15 PM

I agree!! I have also stayed in Collinsville since the WFC moved there. The pig situation has gotten progressively worse over the years. However, this year was an order of magnitude worse.

I didn't really mind if the cops drove through and calmed everyone down every hour or so. But to set up a military operation is BS! I do believe that they had better things to do. Maybe next year they will call out the National Guard and pepper spray everyone...

A new location is required!

ive been going there since 2000 as well. this cop thing really took some of the enjoyment out of the whole experience. i can definatley understand about cracking down on drag racing or burnouts, but to close off streets to those who dont have a room in a hotel on that paticular street is overboard. there should be nothing wrong with people cruzing the streets with whatever there driving and be able to hook up or meet with other folks in the area who share the same enthusiasm on a common interest. another words, should be no reason why it couldnt be like your local cruz night. collinsville should wise up to the fact that we bring so much to their economy during that weekend that they should atleast show their appreciation by allowing us to be social. whats the point of just sitting in your hotel room? which i feel alot of folks resorted to. what a shame.

I agree 100%! We too have been staying at the Comfort Inn in Collinsville the last couple of years. I can understand them wanting to hold it down to a small roar, as I've seen it get a little out of hand in the past. But to resort to the tactics they used to eliminate anyone having a little fun was a little out of hand. A few tire marks on the road never hurt anything! A new place to hang out is in order.

I agree, I have been the last 4 years in Collinsville and have noticed the police presence grow each year. The Hampton inn was Alcatraz this weekend. Roads blocked off, the whole nine yards. There were even undercover stangs. Ridiculous. I agree to move the stay BUT where? I MISS THE DAYS OF BURNOUTS ALL THE WAY DOWN THE STREET AND WHEN THE COPS COME, MOTOR SCoOTER BURNOUTS. No one ever got hurt that I saw, maybe some Chevy guy' s feelings or car when driving down the strip dogging Fords and he deserved that. Move it and Collinsville will notice the loss immediately. Did anyone notice that the letter at the front of each hotel was signed by the INTERIM ploice chief? What a moron!
