07-25-04, 05:28 PM
Okay guys there might be a change in plans. I know 1hot5.0 can't go on weds. and some other people might not either. I am trying to firgure out what works best for everyone. I can go to either speedworld or firebird and I can go just about any day it doesn't matter. Just post here and tell me what day and track works best for you. I will try to PM as many people as I can. If you know someone that go PM or tell them as well about this thread. I need to see what's best. PLEASE POST so I can see who is going.

Weekends would be better for me, since I'm down in Tucson. The drive up and back will add 3 hours to my night. Weekdays would make it difficult the next morning when I have to be at work at 6:00 am. *YAWN*

Dunno, never been to either track. Open to both. Firebird might be a little closer for me tho.

I am in Mesa...by Superstition Springs Mall...and haven't been to either track, so I don't know which one is closer?

Hey I'm seriously interested in going but I'm in Seattle until about the 15th of August, so I won't be with you guys for about 3 weeks. Is there any kind of AZ Mustang association or something? If not, we should start one.

Speedworld is only open for us to race on Wednesdays.
Firebird is a better possibility. It's open every Friday in August and Saturday Aug. 14th. I would like to see how I do with the lower elevation.
SIR in Tucson is having "Midnight Madness" on July 30th. Tech will be open at 6pm and stays open until 12pm midnight. The races should run until 2am. Hopefully b/c it's open so late the Monsoons won't have any effect on the track. I have been waiting for this event since I installed my gears.
I don't know how soon you guys want to go. I am going to send this to a couple Tucson people.
Scott

Firebird is better for me as well. Speedworld is about an hour away from me. I am planning on going this Friday. Who else would like to go? Also I have heard some people wanting to go to the pavilions on Saturday. I am down with that too. This won't be the only time I will try to get people together for the track. I know 1hot5.0 wants to go in the next month or so and 67stang390 doesnt get back for a while so we can plan things again. But who wants to go this friday to firebird?

Speedworld on Wednsday would prolly be the best as it won't be corwded at all. But, Fireslick is about 45 minutes closer to me since I'm in tempe, so it works out pretty much just as well. I was there last friday night and it wasn't crowded at all. (ton of stangs there including 2 turbo foxes) Just make sure you were pants guys...I failed tech because I had long shorts on, so I had to go get long pants and then they passed me, They also require a metal battery Hold Down to pass tech. They said the NHRA came down pretty hard on them since there tech used to be so relaxed, so they're all by the book now. So I'm down for Friday. I may even be able to make the Pavillions on Saturday as well.

the factory hold down is metal, they dont want people using things like bungee cords.. long pants required, I usually wear shorts and have a set of gym pants or sweats in the car..put them on over the shorts..
all the tracks are usually pretty dead in the summer..

Yeah mine Had a Strap across it when I got it from the original owner, so they wouldn't pass me one time...then I had to get a hold down kit from checker...it's actually WAY LESS secure than before but it passed tech lol. Maybe I'll order the factory holddowns instead. Yeah, I'll be there on Friday. See ya guys there, I'll be the Black one 95 with the BAD SVT plates.

Hey guys, I am up in Flagsatff so it would be harder for me to get down there. I just need to get some days off, and right now thats not looking so good. lol, I would love to go, although I dont know if I would race yet, I think I want to do a few more tweaks to my car before I run it. I have never been to a track either so it would be my first time. But we should start some kind of AZ club or something?? That would be cool.
