I just scored a pair of 17x9 cobra rims off of ebay for my 91 hatch. I need some suggestions on tire sizes. I searched here and on ebay. On ebay the popular choice seems to be 255/40, but on my search here, every one seems to be running something wider then that. What is the widest tire I can run out back before I have to roll up the fender lips? The car is a 4cyl LX so no quad shocks. The offset of the wheels is 20mm.

I just got a set of Nitto 255/40/17s, they are perfect. I had 245/45/17's before because I had almost new tires when I bought the rims, and they really bowed out with the wider rims.

I want to say that I have 275/40's all the way around. I do rub the fender extensions in the front, but no where else.
I also used to rub in the back, but rolling the lips a little cured that.
