desperately hunting a useable gas tank - 07-14-06, 03:49 PM

Just like the title says. I need a tank for my 78. The top half is just about completely rusted through. The guy at the shop said he has heard of a place down south that has a pattern to make them out of aluminum(like a cell) to fit in the stock location and use the stock sending units, going to try to find the number and see what he can do. In the meantime, anyone have one they can spare???

also if anyone has a spare shift boot please let me know.

thanks

I had the same problem as you are having and went with the more readily available Fox tank. It does require some modification, but if you are brave enough to try to weld a gas tank and have access to the equipment, it didn't come out too bad. I did post in the forums when I did mine and I have a pic posted with the tank installed if you are interested. Just do a search for gas tank and use my sn for the user.

Not sure if you got my Pm. I have a 78 for parts. I live up in Clearfield county PA, about 3 hours west of you.

I have removed the parts i needed from the car and i am about ready to take the shell to the junk yard.

you can email me at papachino@gmail.com

Thanks guys. I wondered about the fox tank as someone on another site had mentioned it, but I did find another option- I'm going to resurrect Lil cobra thread with it.
