91 mustang gt 5 spd. while i was driving i felt a small spring by my feet, im assuming it came from around the pedals somewhere. i looked around with a flashlight but i couldnt see where it goes. everything seems to be working fine, gas pedal feels like it has a little less travel to start with but could just be in my head. any ideas where this thing goes?

looks like the clutch quadrant spring...

usually they are a bitch to get out.

that does look like the ashtray door spring. does the cover stay closed. If not that is it.
