optimum intake pipe -
05-01-07, 11:13 AM
Just looking for some opinions on an intake pipe for my car. Currently I have a ProM 75mm mass air sensor, and a 70mm TB. I still have my old intake pipe that was a Mac CAI for speed density. I have the filter directly on the MAF. The pipe is narrower however than the TB and MAF sensor, and actually fits inside both. I've been thinking about a fenderwill intake from BBK, but is this a wider diameter than the Mac? Also considering the C&L trueflow pipe, but this isn't fenderwell. Ideas?

You need to at least match the TB and intake tube DIA. If air is flowing through a certain DIA and then quickly changes to a bigger DIA you run into a problem called vina contracta which creates a swirling of the air and it inturupts the flow.

Stock box, remove the silencer, C&L pipe...
That should be pretty decent!

What about the mass air sensor? Will that connect to the stock air box?

It *should* hook up just fine.
However, I don't have ANY first hand experience with PMAS meters...

I would do a C&L from the TB to the MAF sensor then from the MAF sensor use the fender well piece from the mac kit.

He already has a PMAS, so I would think sticking with that would be best...
No reason to downgrade to a C&L meter.

Jason, I think he's talking about a C&L Trueflow from the MAF to the TB.
I have a new C&L Trueflow sitting here for use on my new combo. The problem I am having is it doesn't come close to fitting. By that I mean that it sticks out so far from the TB that it will hit the strut tower.

Im looking at trying the Anderson N/A Power Pipe.
The C&L Fits like crap. And puts the filter right by the alternator and fan.
